While Habitats Affiliates have the option to use Green Built, Energy Star or LEED-H, they will be encouraged by their State Association to go green using the Green Built Michigan program.

ANSI Green Building Standard Available, March 2009

A collaborative effort between the ICC and NAHB, the Standard recently approved by ANSI provides the "green" practices that can be incorporated into new homes. The approval signals a new era for builders, remodelers and developers and also provides an extra measure of reassurance for home buyers. The National Green Building Standard is now the first and only ANSI-approved green building rating system, making it the benchmark for green homes.

"The four threshold levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Emerald provide builders with a means to achieve basic, entry-level green building, or achieve the highest level of sustainable "green" building that incorporates energy savings of 60 percent or higher.

The Standard can be used by any builder for their individual projects, or be the basis for a local community or state green building program."

You can order your copy through Builder Books and receive a discount available to NAHB members.
